My newest toy: Canon 40D

Today I sold my old Canon 400D and bought the new Canon EOS 40D. Since it was raining and I got the camera almost at dusk I was unable to take any pictures, but since I just got this camera in my hands, expect the first images soon.

Since I decided to buy a new body and replace my Canon EOS 400D with the newer Canon EOS 40D I decided to take a few shots of my “old” equipment.

I am still thinking of keeping these lenses but I do not know if I will still need them since on my shopping list currently I have the following:

• Canon EF 135mm f/2 L
• Canon Speedlite 580EX II
• Canon Speedlite 430EX – soon…
• Light stands
• 40” Reflective umbrella
• 32” Silver reflective umbrella
• 32” Golden reflective umbrella
  
• Synchronizers
• A good bag to carry all this in one place
• Bag for the light stands

Since I am running on a tight budget and this equipment nearly costs as much as a small car I do not know if I am going to buy all this at once so… I think I will keep my old lens for a while I never know what might come up. Update: Got a few things from my shopping list, the others will join my gear in a month or so. I sold my old 28-135 IS to a friend and I have few more $$$ in my budged.

Photo retouche test

One sample photo portrait retouch I did on a studio photo I took way back. The first one is the JPEG exported directly from the RAW file without any corrections. The second photo is the cleaned one, the skin is more clear, some little corrections are made around the lips and the eyes are enhanced. As I was aiming more to a B/W result the color photo is left with few things to be corrected but hey.. at least you can see how the process goes.

The night we had lots of fun

Well to be more specific, the girls had fun… I was just standing there capturing the moment. Here are some shots from that night, I hope you like them.

Here is one portrait of my dear brother I took while he was playing the guitar (yes he plays it too…) the poor boy was so surprised when I pulled my gold reflector in front of him and my camera snapped. But all in all it was a good shot.

Test photo shoot

One test photo from a studio photo session at PhotoSynthesis’ studio done in September 2007 . Color and black and white versions shown bellow.
